It’s back to school season and you know what that means….Jenn slacks off on the website. Hopefully I’m getting the new schedule, job, and exhausted toddler under a little more control now so I’ll be able to keep up this fall.

Yep, it’s that time again. Time for me to stock my kids up with clothes for fall/winter (and then post pictures so my mom can see my finds). :) The MOM sale was last night. It’s the first of the 3 this season and I’m SO glad that it is. It has the best prices, so when it’s first I can get everything I see and know that I probably won’t find it cheaper at the other sales (even on the half price days). I set a budget for the sale (and only went over by $1.75…without adding things up before I checked out AND that was everything averaging less than $2 an item…how incredible is that??!) and was thankfully able to find almost everything both kids will need for the next 6 months! (I’ll still go to the other sales on half price day of coarse because #1 I’m an addict and #2 I do still need church Christmas clothes for both kids and a heavier coat and black shoes for Macy)
I had to get 9 month and 12 month clothes for Steven (it’s so nice when they can make it through an entire season in the same size!), so he is well stocked. So, here you go mom…
Steven’s 9 mos. jammies

9 mos. outfits

9 mos. shirts and pants

12 mos. jammies

12 mos. outfits, jacket, and sweatshirt

12 mos. shirts (including his first polo…I love it!)

12 mos. pants

Guess who’s going to be a duck for Halloween?!?! I figure I might get 2 Halloweens before he grows an opinion about what he wants to be, so I need to make him as cute and fuzzy as possible before he wants to be a zombie army man (Brad). The other Halloween shirt is for next year…they can be hard to find, so I’m shopping early.

I found 2 pair of shoes for Macy…the brown ones are too big now, but you never know when kids feet will grow.

Macy’s jacket, hat, mittens, and Steven’s hat (I can’t wait to see him in it!)

Macy’s jammies.

Macy’s fall dresses.

Macy’s holiday shirts.

3 of Macy’s outfit possibilities.

A few more outfit possibilities.

This was the best find of the night….guess what Macy’s going to be for Halloween (that’s for you Pop Pop!
)

It was a great night with great deals and some awesome girl time!

Macy (and mommy) started preschool on Wednesday.

Macy’s first day of preschool breakfast.

I had great intentions of getting a cute smiley picture of Macy before we left for school, but when your mom is a teacher and it’s her first day of school as well some things don’t work out according to plan…so we got some last minute hurried shots in the parking lot (maybe next year!)

Steven’s first day of preschool was Thursday (so they each got their own 1st day!). Steven was all smiles…as usual.

Our first week of preschool was a huge success. Macy LOVES it! She was incredibly hyper after the first day and sang an “I love school” song all the way home. By the end of the day on Thursday she was exhausted from 2 days of waking up early and being so busy, so she took good 3 hour naps on Thursday and Friday…mommy could get used to this!

Steven had his 6 month well visit on Monday (we had to reschedule, so he was almost 7 months when we went). I’ve been noticing that his 6 month onesies are almost too short on him and now I know why…our premie is in the 50th percentile for length !!! I think he was 26ish inches (but I could be way off, but I think that’s right)! He also went up to the 10th percentile for weight and weighs 16lbs. 6oz. I was a little surprised his weight percentile wasn’t higher because this boy has some serious rolls…his doctor said they like really fat babies.
Steven started eating solids twice a day (cereal in the morning and veggie at night) on Monday. I started with a delightful butternut squash/corn mixture. I think the pictures will explain his first experience with veggies better than I could.

(trying to eat it off the tray…that’s my boy!)

I’m late posting this (shocking, I know), so Steven has been eating rice cereal for 2 or 3 weeks. He’s struggled with keep his tongue in check to keep the cereal in his mouth, but he’s getting better. Despite his first faces, he loves his cereal!

He’s still having some trouble holding himself upright. I usually stuff something in the side of his chair to keep him up.

Is it just me, or is this picture a spitting image of Uncle Brian?

I still haven’t gotten the pictures of my first batch of bread off my camera (you’re really not missing much), but here is the 2nd batch that I made tonight. It was so much faster to make this time with the first batch under my belt! We also figured out that each slice only has about 2g of sugar…pretty good for bread. I told Doug that we’ll never buy bread again!

Parenthood is filled with milestones…your child’s first smile, their first word, their first steps, etc. One milestone that I’ve been waiting for is the first time my child turns a wall into their artwork. I haven’t been looking forward to it, but to be honest, I haven’t been dreading it either. It’s just kind of a parenting right of passage. Yesterday Macy hit this milestone and she did it in such a “Macy fashion” that I could help but to smile.
I was working in the kitchen and Macy had been coloring in the living room. She disappeared and I figured that she was in Steven’s room because she likes to play in there while he watches his mobile. Steven was getting fussy so I went to put his paci back in and out of the corner of my eye I saw Macy reaching up to her curtain with a crayon. I stopped and told her that we don’t color on the curtains, we color on paper. She had a very guilty look on her face and said, “Macy color on owl (meaning the owl on her wall)?” So I said, “No, we don’t color on owl.” next she said, “Macy color on squirrel?”. “No, we don’t color on squirrel.” By then I’d noticed brown crayon on the wall behind her…and that shed already colored on owl and squirrel. Basically she was sheepishly asking about everything she’d already colored on hoping that I said it was okay.
I went in to look at the damage…she had given LOTS of things around her room a little extra color…books, the wall, her closet door, the bookshelf, her dresser, squirrel, owl, hedgehog…it almost looked as if she went around the room and colored on everything just enough to see what it was like and then moved onto the next thing. I can vouch that washable crayola crayons really are washable! A wet paper towel and it was all good as new. This milestone was almost cute…I hope she doesn’t ever turn her room into art with a sharpie though!!

Kohls sends me a $10 giftcard every couple of months…I’m not sure why, but I LOVE them for it. I got another one last week so I made a quick trip today to see what kind of bargain I could snag. I always buy clearance clothes for the kids in advance (my last $10 was spent on 2 pair of very cute Christmas/winter jammies for Macy to wear this winter). Today I stumbled upon an incredible deal and got Macy 3 pair of shorts for next summer! They were 80 percent off making them $2.40 each! Thank you Kohls!!!!
